A year of measuring waves, water levels and currents at Fort Boyard!

The aim of this first phase of measurements was to collect data on the local wave climate for our client ACTIMAR, so that they could calibrate and validate their model developed for the area. To do this, we deployed:

  • Nortek Signature 1000 ADCP placed on the seabed, 100 meters north-west of the fort
  • and a Radac B.V. directional radar system, installed on the self-elevating platform

After a year of continuous wave measurements, the ADCP was decommissioned this month (see video).

The radar system, supplied by our partner Maritech SAS, who also maintains the data storage cloud, will continue to provide real-time wave data for the duration of the fort renovation project. This will enable ACTIMAR to continue validating their model's predictions and provide real-time measurements of sea conditions.
